Ty Jacobs

 

As a founder and Principal of FourthFrame Technologies LLC, Ty has over 20 years of professional software development experience using cutting-edge technologies.  Ty has been working on Object Oriented software projects for the last 11 years, beginning with C++ and later Java.  The last 6 years have been devoted to Java-based projects.  Ty is a versatile leader and has successfully served in a number of roles, including project manager, senior software engineer, lead software designer, user interface designer, and manager of developers.  At FourthFrame, Ty consults on software development projects, performs business development activities, negotiates contracts with clients, and recruits new talent.

 

Prior to FourthFrame, Ty worked for LION bioscience, a leading solution provider for the life science industry, specializing in delivering enterprise-wide software solutions to improve the drug discovery process.  In early 2003, Ty was promoted to Director of LDC Development at LION bioscience.  In that role, he led a highly talented and distributed development team that spanned San Diego, Columbus, Cleveland, and Heidelberg, Germany.  The team was responsible for LION’s DiscoveryCenter framework, which is a complex, configurable, and extensible J2EE platform that includes a rich Swing client, Web Services, Enterprise Java Beans, and Oracle and makes heavy use of XML.

 

At LION and previously at NetGenics, Ty managed several projects to successful delivery.  An accomplished developer, Ty has also designed and implemented many client and server components from scratch.  He is a respected user interface designer and Java Swing programmer and also has significant experience with XML design and coding.

 

Ty began his career at Chemical Abstracts Service, where he completed projects in IBM assembler, C, and C++.  During his last 5 years there, he was a key member of the SciFinder development team, developing user interface components and coordinating releases.  The SciFinder product is now in use by tens of thousands of research scientists worldwide.

 

Ty graduated in 1987 from The Ohio State University College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Science.
