Ron McCamish

Ron McCamish is a Principal and one of the founders of FourthFrame Technologies LLC.   With over 20 years of professional IT experience, Ron has a wide range of project experience with a strong concentration in Java, J2EE, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, and Oracle development and architecture.  In his Principal role at FourthFrame, Ron has consulted with a number of clients, including a major financial institute where he developed a J2EE/Oracle solution used by over 30,000 users and a software startup where he and his FourthFrame partners brought a voice-activated medical records application to market.

Prior to FourthFrame, Ron was a Senior Software Engineer for LION bioscience, a global solutions provider for the life science industry, specializing in delivering enterprise-wide software solutions to improve the drug discovery process.  Ron integrated LION’s core J2EE and Web Services platform with the DiscoveryCenter product line from NetGenics, Inc, which was acquired by LION.   He successfully worked across development sites in Germany, England, and the U.S. to develop the LION unified Service Oriented Architecture.

In the late 1990’s, Ron joined NetGenics as a Senior Software Engineer.  NetGenics focused on bioinformatics solutions for drug discovery.  He utilized his knowledge of developing software frameworks and Oracle databases to develop DiscoveryCenter, an n-tier life science integration platform.  Ron architected an Oracle genomic sequence datamart and integrated this datamart with NetGenics’ J2EE service oriented platform.  He also found time to step into a management role at NetGenics to lead the team loading the datamart.

Ron began his career in software development at Chemical Abstracts Services in Columbus.  With 13 years at CAS, he developed a solid, core basis in software development principles and practices and excelled in developing object-oriented software frameworks in C and C++.  He spent a major part of his career at CAS architecting large Oracle databases for major projects in the chemical information space.

Ron’s major interests include Java, J2EE, Web Services, and their complex relationships with Oracle databases.  He regularly attends Java and Oracle technology conferences and the Central Ohio Java User’s Group and the Ohio Oracle User’s Group.

Ron graduated in 1986 from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in both Computer Science and Mathematics.
